“To publish scholarship is to vouch for reliable, state-of-the-art research as well as to foster further exploration and informed discussion. Scholarly communication, in the end, is the accredited review and promulgation of scholarship; the value a peer review process confers on a work and its author(s) is increasingly important in a time that truth claims are being challenged and corroded, and facts are open to contestation. As gatekeepers in the process of assuring independent evaluation of the work of scholars, publishers bear a primary responsibility to uphold their rigorous practices of evaluation and assessment.”

Peer Review Transparency Group’s “Transparency in Standards and Practices of Peer Review”

Welcome to the homepage of the Scholarship in 3D Digital Publishing Cooperative. The goal of the Cooperative is to articulate the requirements for the digital publication of 3D Edition content, and to develop concrete and shared workflows and best practices for innovative 3D publication formats. Bringing together scholars, academic presses, technologists, and librarians, we endeavor to create new pathways to publication for scholars working with richly annotated 3D content, and ease the burden on individual scholars and presses to develop custom scholarly apparatuses, instead providing a suite of flexible platforms that support many authors and publishers.

The Cooperative was formed as part of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) Digital Edition Publishing Cooperatives Program.
